Holmes Candle Co. started off as a dream many years ago, after I left my job to be a stay at home mom while my husband went through the police academy. I remember sitting in my kitchen, scrubbing the cabinets because the soot from a candle I had purchased had discolored them, thinking that there must be a cleaner way to burn candles. That’s when I learned about soy candles and began toying with the idea of making them myself. 

I ordered supplies, made some testers…and promptly realized that I wasn’t in the right season of life to launch a business. Plans were put on hold through life changes, moves and another baby, but the idea of candle making sat in the back of my mind for years. 

By early 2023, I had a fairly successful home décor Instagram page and Etsy shop for vintage finds, but still, the idea of clean burning soy candles was bouncing around in my head. I realized there was no time like the present and, with only a double boiler in my kitchen and $300 worth of candle making supplies, Holmes Candle Co. started to come to life.
